Chef Laudico Guevarra’s at San Juan: (All You Can Eat) Lunch with the Leaders 2016

I have been looking at Chef Laudico Guevarra’s Restaurant for years but did not really have the chance to go. Until my hubby’s cluster at work decided to have their lunch there. As we all know, Chef Lau is one of the celebrity chef in the Philippines. He is also one of the judges of the cooking show in one of the big TV network.

The restaurant is an old mansion serving only FILIPINO FOOD. You will feel the Filipino vibe the moment you get there. I felt nostalgic because I remembered my Lolo (Tatay Osong) and Lola (Nanay Bina). The house I grew up at was an old Hispanic house with variety of fruit-bearing trees outside and wide space to play around. There is ample parking space there. No hassle if you decide to come in group with your family or colleagues.

Chef Laudico Guevarra’s is open from Mondays thru Sundays. Lunch is open from 11am until 2pm while, dinner is from 7:30pm until 10pm. They also have Maagang Salu-Salo Promo from 5pm-630pm in which offered on a cheaper rate than the dinner time rate. See their over-all updated rates below:

My hubby’s cluster plus me came in 23 pax. Reservation with 50% DOWN PAYMENT has to be done prior to the lunch date. Other buffet restaurants do not require reservation though. We occupied a small room named Abad Santos with a wash room inside. It is shared, people from other area can also use the wash room. There was a dedicated server who assisted us with all our requests during our whole stay. He got a tip from us for his excellent customer service. Thank you Kuya Jun. We told him our group was celebrating for work’s peak season. He handed us a cake with a “Congratulations! Goodluck Phone Leaders” message. Galingan nyo pa guys! Maaga ang Congratulations ni Kuya. ๐Ÿ˜Š By the way, ang cake na ito ay pinabalot at binigay namen sa batang namamalimos sa kalye.

Onset, we (hubby and I) hurried to the buffet area after we made sure we got our table and seats. Some leaders arrived earlier to secure the reservation; TLs MJean, Roe, Wilma, Krisna and Vince. Others arrived after a few minutes; TLs JLo, Tina, Earl, Jhigz, Doms, Jona, Rona, Gimo, Abby, June, Jason J, Jason O, Zee, Alex, and STL Jean.

There are paintings on every wall. It only shows that Chef Lau and wife Chef Jackie are also art enthusiasts. The white plates have dedication from the people/celebrities who visited the buffet restaurant. I asked one of the servers if the group can also sign a plate, he replied only celebrities do that. But looking at other blogs, even the non-celebs were able to sign. Maybe that feature of the restaurant already ended.

Guevarra’s Restaurant also offer Hot Tea and Coffee, not inclusive in the buffet rate. Any additional order will be on top of the bill. A great way to relax a bit after the Man vs Food session.

Food Stations with respective food are as follow:

Breads, Salads (Radish Cucumber, Macaroni Salad, Steamed Vegetables), Dips/Pastes/Dressings (Bagoong Balayan, Bagoong Vinaigrette, Guava Glaze, Peanut Sauce, Cesar Dressing, and Salted Eggs), Fresh Lumpiang Ubod, Tokwa’t Baboy, Cheese Platter, Spicy Sardines, Tuna Kilawin and Squid Law

La Union: Surfing Capital of the Philippines – Extension of Summer 2015

After we had fun at Thunderbird Resorts and Casino ( we continued to explore the province of La Union. This time in Baranggay San Juan. (Adventure was in March 2, 2015) I had the room reserved on an earlier date since I expected a bunch of people starting to celebrate their summer as well. I had to call and reserve in advance and I was glad with the kind accommodation of the personnel on the phone.ย I am known to be a practical person, so I chose the resort that is within our budget (not too expensive and not too cheap). The staffsย were kind and accommodating with our requests. We stayed at Sebay Surf Central Resort in their 4-bed room. We traveled with my Kuya Bobot (my deaf and mute cousin). We were welcomed with free drinks, free photobooth, free Wi-Fi, free billiard game and others.

After we secured our bags in our room, we hurried to the beach! Oh! I was stunned by the breeze and the relaxing ambiance. I cannot fathom what I feel. It was just argh (Speechless). They have a restaurant/bar with pawid umbrella type in the open space. They offer Filipino food such as Ihaw-Ihaw and they also offer liquors. And there is also Live Band performing during weekends. Here are some of the pictures taken. Let these tell you more.

It was my daughter and husband’s first surfing lesson. I did not try because I just gave birth thru CS (3 months ago). They said it was very tiring. And they experienced muscle pains during and after the surfing lesson. However the fun went on! In the evening, (after the swimming and all), to extend the relaxation and lessen the muscle pains, I approached the front desk and asked for a room massage. It really felt so good that after the massage you get to sleep and need not to drive home. My husband actually fell asleep during the massage session. We did not bother to wake him up. Anyway, I got up to pay for the service worth P500 each only, not bad hah.

The following day, we were bound to Benguet and Baguio for our next summer family adventure. We took some pics as we waived goodbye to the beach which brought us to serenity. (At least for a while, away from the city)

Try your family adventure at Sebay Surf Central Resort.ย It was not crowded. Jackie Rice was there with some friends as well. Our son; Fourth was able to say “Hello” and she reciprocated the greetings.

Summer 2015 at Thunderbird Resorts and Casino in La Union

We left at around 5am. The kids were all excited. We planned our Summer 2015 early to avoid crowded places. We must admit we like a vacation with at least a little privacy. We had brunch at Thunderbird Resorts at their Olives Restaurant. The kids got even more excited when they saw the pool and the beach. Who wouldn’t? Take a peek!

Their accommodation prices are expensive for an average person. The beach has an additional pay to give you access to it. Day tour ONLY is possible per head. But if you are more than 5 members, I suggest you get an over night accomodation because that is somehow of the same price. The food is not that pricey. We wanted some surfing experience so we decided to go to the next town where the Surfing Capital; San Juan, La Union.

The over all experience was great. Seeing my kids happy is something that MONEY CANNOT BUY.
